Greetings fellow SBA Members and Friends,
There has been some controversy lately surrounding the Krewe of Justinian and our ability to move forward in the 2026-2027 Mardi Gras Season. I am happy to announce that after much deliberation, the verdict is in – Justinian rides again! All are invited to the annual meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 5:15 PM. This year, the Krewe of Justinian will focus on rebuilding, reuniting, and rediscovering the core values on which our krewe was founded.
As a committee of the Shreveport Bar Association, Justinian has two core missions. Our professional mission seeks to bring our local lawyers together in a social, fun-loving atmosphere that helps build camaraderie and foster relationships within the legal community. Our philanthropic mission seeks to provide financial support for the Shreveport Bar Foundation. The SBF serves the community through various programs, including the Pro Bono Project, Self-Represented Litigants, My Community Cares, Heirship Property, and the Legal Representation for Victims of Domestic Violence. These programs are invaluable in supporting the legal needs of our low-income community and those in crisis.
At the June 11, 2026, Annual meeting, we will unveil the theme for Krewe of Justinian XXXIII, introduce the members of the re-envisioning team, and discuss rebuilding a strong Senate for the years to come. We are still seeking members for Senate rolls in the upcoming season. If you cannot attend the Annual meeting, please visit the Krewe of Justinian website for more information.
XOXO Consul of Administration, Valerie DeLatte Gilmore XXXIII

About Justinian
The Krewe of Justinian was formed in 1994 for area attorneys, judges, and other persons interested in the legal affairs of the community to participate in and promote the celebration of Mardi Gras in the Ark-La-Tex.
